Software Engineering Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Team Lead to drive a high‑performing, cross‑functional squad building multi‑platform desktop and mobile applications that have a positive societal impact. Based in Bristol with a hybrid working model (two days in‑office per week), you will combine hands‑on coding with leadership of a five‑developer team and a QA specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, scalable C#/.NET code and champion modern architectural practices.
• Lead sprint planning, act as delivery lead or scrum master, and manage the release lifecycle.
• Conduct fortnightly 1:1s, performance reviews and set objectives to foster an inclusive team culture.
• Promote automated testing, including unit and integration tests, and ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate with internal Product and UX specialists to align technical delivery with user outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in C# or a strong Java/C++ background.
• Proven experience in a formal software team‑lead role with direct line‑management responsibilities.
• Strong background in agile/scrum methodologies and iterative delivery cycles.
• Passion for building technology that improves people’s lives.

Required skills

• C# and .NET framework.
• Automated testing (unit and integration testing).
• Experience with cross‑platform development.
