About the role

Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver tailored teaching that meets the needs of learners with SEND, adapting approaches quickly.
- Create engaging, practical learning experiences that build communication, independence, resilience and real‑world skills.
- Work closely with support staff, including teaching assistants and other professionals, to ensure consistency across lessons and care routines.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning and support progress towards individual targets.
- Use assessment and feedback to monitor learning, identify barriers early and shape next steps.
- Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through clear routines, relationship‑based strategies and de‑escalation when needed.
- Collaborate with external professionals to keep learning aligned with each learner’s needs.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, record‑keeping and professional practice.
Required profile
- Qualified teacher (or working towards qualification) with understanding of SEND and barriers to learning.
- Experience teaching learners with complex needs such as communication, behaviour, sensory, learning difficulties or emotional regulation.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and create calm, structured learning environments.
- Flexibility to adapt plans, resources and strategies to meet learners where they are.
- Clear communicator who works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
