Specialist Occupational Therapist – Child & Adolescent Mental Health

About the role

The Specialist Occupational Therapist will join the North CAMHS team at Woodside Health & Care Centre, delivering occupational therapy services to children and young people up to 18 years with mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental issues. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, supporting holistic care and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver specialist occupational therapy interventions for children and young people with complex mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
• Manage an autonomous caseload, ensuring evidence‑based care and positive outcomes.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary team members and partner agencies to develop holistic care plans.
• Contribute to diagnostic and formulation processes, including joint assessments and clinical decision‑making.
• Provide supervision, guidance and support to junior staff, support workers and students.
• Deliver training and education to families, carers and professionals to enhance understanding and outcomes.

Required profile

• HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
• Relevant occupational therapy experience that can be transferred to a mental health and paediatric setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with children, young people and families.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Occupational therapy assessment and intervention techniques.
• Knowledge of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions in children and adolescents.
