Specialist Plastic Surgeon (SAS/Fellow) – NHS

About the role

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist Doctor in Plastic Surgery to support service continuity during a period of workforce transition and rising demand. The role will involve acute and elective plastic surgery, hand trauma, reconstructive microsurgery and day‑case procedures within a consultant‑led, multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver acute plastic surgery and hand trauma services.
• Manage elective plastic surgery pathways, including breast reconstruction and skin cancer cases.
• Perform reconstructive microsurgery and day‑case/ambulatory surgery.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development.
• Maintain clinical risk management and evidence‑based practice.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• FRCS (Plastics) and/or EBOPRAS qualification.
• Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (or within six months), CESR or European Community rights.
• Specialist interest and experience in breast reconstruction, hand surgery/trauma, and skin cancer management.
• Demonstrated experience in both acute and elective plastic surgery.

Required skills

• GMC registration.
• FRCS (Plastics) certification.
• EBOPRAS membership.
• Microsurgery expertise (or fellowship).
• Hand surgery expertise (or fellowship).
