Specialist School Nurse – Community Public Health

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a dedicated School Nurse to join the Children and Families Service. Working part‑time from Pollok Health Centre, you will support school‑aged children, families and communities, delivering person‑centred, evidence‑based care across emotional health, child protection and transition pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate a caseload of children and young people, assessing, planning and evaluating programmes of care.
• Deliver focused interventions for vulnerable children, young people and families across priority areas.
• Undertake specialist assessments and contribute to Child’s Plans using the GIRFEC framework.
• Lead and coordinate care pathways relating to emotional health, wellbeing, child protection and transitions.
• Collaborate with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to improve health outcomes.
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and support to the school nursing team and students.
• Promote health improvement and reduce inequalities through education, support and early‑intervention initiatives.

Required profile

• First‑level NMC registration with a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification in School Nursing or Public Health Nursing.
• Current registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register.
• Experience working with children, young people, families and communities in a community or public health setting.
• Knowledge of GIRFEC, child protection legislation and national public health priorities.
