About the role
NHS Tayside is recruiting permanent Specialty Doctor consultants to work in Acute and General Medicine, including Medicine for the Elderly. The posts are based at Ninewells Hospital and/or Perth Royal Infirmary and start in August 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Rotate through acute, general and relevant specialty medicine units to develop broad generalist expertise.
- Provide high‑dependency medical care when required.
- Participate in quality‑improvement projects and teaching activities.
- Progress towards out‑of‑hours rota (ST3+ level) after achieving required competencies.
- Support development of specialist interests and potential training equivalence.
Required profile
- Completion of Foundation training (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 4 years postgraduate clinical experience, preferably in acute or general medicine.
- Commitment to professional development and mentorship.
Required skills
- Experience in acute care environments such as an Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
- Ability to engage in local teaching programmes (e.g., PACE).
