SRE Technical Lead – Data Engineering Focus

About the role

FDM Group is seeking an SRE Technical Lead to support the de‑commissioning of legacy applications and migration of data for a leading global investment bank. The role is a six‑month contract with strong potential for extension, based in a hybrid setting between Bristol and London.

Key responsibilities

• Extract, analyse, validate and migrate data from legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Investigate and resolve data‑related issues affecting business processes and downstream systems.
• Analyse large, complex datasets to identify anomalies, trends and quality concerns.
• Design, develop and optimise SQL queries across extensive database environments.
• Validate data integrity and completeness throughout migration activities.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders and data specialists to ensure successful migration outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial experience in data engineering or related fields.
• Strong analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative delivery team.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL proficiency, including query optimisation on large datasets.
