Supermarket Assistant – Christmas

About the role

John Lewis Partnership is hiring a Supermarket Assistant for a Christmas temporary part-time position at its Waitrose store in Reading. The role helps customers feel the difference on every visit, with shop-keeping tasks that keep the store running efficiently. Pay is £13.00, rising to £13.25 after 90 days.

Key responsibilities

• Stock replenishment, keeping shelves full and products in the right place.
• Fulfill online customer orders ready for delivery to customers' doors.
• Reduce wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns on items approaching sell-by dates.
• Support the wider shop team, including checkout support, Click & Collect orders and on-demand orders.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.

Required profile

• Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is welcomed.
• Desirable: up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends, and a flexible approach to supporting the whole branch.

What we offer

• Night premium of £3.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00.
• Part-time hours on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 18:00-02:00.
