Systems Administrator / Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Systems Administrator / Platform Engineer to manage secure, reliable infrastructure across Windows, Linux and virtualised environments. This hybrid position requires 2‑3 days a week on‑site in Bristol, with flexibility for remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Active Directory – manage users, groups and design Group Policy Objects.
• Provision and maintain VMware virtual machines.
• Enforce configuration standards, patching and system hardening across the enterprise.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash and Python.
• Monitor logging and telemetry for performance and incident response.
• Support DevSecOps and security teams by implementing controls and handling incidents.
• Manage networking components such as DNS, routing and Cisco firewalls.
• Coordinate with MSPs and ensure infrastructure changes are auditable and controlled.

Required profile

• Strong background in networking (DNS, routing, firewalls) and identity & access management.
• Experience applying least‑privilege principles and managing configuration drift.
• Proven ability to work in a hybrid environment and collaborate with security teams.
