Tax Enquiry Consultant – Direct Tax Dispute Resolution

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Enquiry Consultant to join a leading specialist tax consultancy. The role involves handling complex direct tax investigations and disputes for a range of accountancy practices, tax advisory firms and their clients across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HMRC enquiries and investigations, including COP8 and COP9 matters.
• Prepare and submit voluntary disclosures on behalf of clients.
• Lead tax dispute resolution and negotiate settlement agreements.
• Provide technical advisory support to professional firms on complex tax issues.
• Collaborate remotely with a specialist team to deliver high‑quality advice.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a tax practice, HMRC, or specialist investigations environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex tax problems.
• Excellent communication skills for working closely with professional advisers.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fully remote setting.
