Teacher in Charge – Primary Provision

About the role

We are seeking an inspiring Teacher in Charge to lead our Primary Provision in Chichester, supporting pupils from EYFS through KS2, including those with SEND, SEMH needs and other barriers to learning. The role combines approximately 50 % classroom teaching with senior leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the Primary Provision and develop a dedicated staff team.
• Deliver and model outstanding inclusive teaching practice across all year groups.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and pupil engagement.
• Shape an ambitious, nurturing curriculum aligned with statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with families, schools and external agencies to support pupil progress and reintegration.
• Act as Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for primary pupils.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Expertise in behaviour management and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Ability to lead, motivate and support staff effectively.
• Passion for inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
