Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (SEN Support)

About the role

A high‑achieving, inclusive secondary school in Hounslow is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its support team from September. You will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to help students overcome learning barriers and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality classroom support to keep students engaged and progressing.
• Deliver targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to implement personalised support strategies.
• Monitor student progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and well‑managed learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Proactive attitude and confidence to work independently and as part of a team.
