Thermofluids Engineer

About the role

Rolls‑Royce is seeking a Thermofluids Engineer to join the Electrical, Electronics, Software, Control System Design and Product Security (E24S) team in the UK. You will analyse and ensure the thermal performance of critical components such as electric engine control units, electrical machines, power electronic converters and battery storage systems throughout their life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse and simulate electrical components and sub‑systems using conjugate heat transfer and CFD methodologies.
• Assemble, interpret and report thermal and CFD simulation results, experimental data and first‑principles analyses to assess and optimise component performance.
• Collaborate with design, system, safety, service and airworthiness engineers to meet company, customer and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by updating best practices, automating processes, introducing novel technologies and eliminating wasteful steps.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics.
• Logical, analytical and innovative problem‑solving ability with balanced technical and business decision‑making.
• Membership of a relevant professional body; Chartered status (or working towards it) preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills at all organisational levels.
