Unqualified Teaching Assistant – Sports/Rugby

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong sporting background, particularly in rugby, to join an alternative provision setting in Blackpool as an Unqualified Teaching Assistant. The role offers a pathway into education for those without formal teaching qualifications, allowing you to use your leadership and teamwork experience to support vulnerable young people.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in managing classroom and outdoor sports activities.
• Provide calm and consistent behaviour mentoring to students with SEMH needs.
• Build positive relationships and act as a relatable role model.
• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils requiring extra guidance.
• Support practical sessions, helping students develop resilience and teamwork through sport.

Required profile

• Active experience in rugby, football, martial arts or similar team sports.
• High emotional intelligence, resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Genuine passion for mentoring vulnerable youth.
• Reliable work ethic and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain a clean enhanced DBS check.
