VAT Manager (Bookkeeping & VAT) – Banbury

About the role

Accountancy Elite is recruiting, on behalf of a client in Banbury, Oxfordshire, for a bookkeeping and VAT manager. The role covers VAT returns and management accounts, is full time and offers up to £45,000 salary. The successful candidate must be ACCA/ACA or QBE qualified and have extensive, demonstrable experience in bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT within a practice.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the office's VAT returns and management accounts
• Prepare VAT returns and management accounts with more technical requirements
• Review management accounts and VAT returns
• Oversee client deadlines and help the team prioritise its workload
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members
• Manage client communication and respond to staff and client queries
• Assist clients with software and bookkeeping questions

Required profile

• ACCA, ACA or QBE qualification
• Experience of bookkeeping and VAT return preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Experience working within general practice
• Commercial approach, strong organisational skills and ability to balance workloads across clients
• Willingness to learn other software and help clients with their own software

Required skills

• Knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks (minimum requirement)
• Experience with a range of accounting software is desirable
