VAT Manager

About the role

The VAT Manager will join a fast‑growing, innovative organisation within a high‑performing Tax function. This commercially focused advisory role shapes VAT strategy, manages risk and supports business growth across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, timely VAT advice to finance and operational stakeholders.
• Support business initiatives, projects and transactions to ensure correct VAT treatment.
• Act as the primary point of contact for VAT‑related queries across the organisation.
• Review, enhance and document VAT controls, processes and procedures.
• Identify and implement system and process improvement opportunities.
• Contribute VAT considerations to finance system and process changes.
• Assist the Head of Indirect Tax with HMRC enquiries, audits and compliance activities.
• Deliver VAT training and guidance to non‑tax teams such as AP, Sales and Finance Ops.
• Mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and providing guidance.

Required profile

• Significant UK VAT experience gained in practice or industry.
• Strong working knowledge of UK VAT legislation, accounting processes and reporting.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, ATT or equivalent).
• Experience supporting system changes or process‑improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to advisory work on transactions or cross‑functional projects.
