Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer – London (Brent)

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join a busy housing team in the London Borough of Brent. The role is site‑based, requiring regular travel across the borough to visit council tenants in their homes. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, and there is limited opportunity to work from home.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a programme of home visits to council tenants across Brent.
• Complete detailed tenancy visit assessments and prescribed data‑collection forms.
• Conduct dynamic risk assessments, identifying health, safety, fire and evacuation concerns.
• Identify and refer issues such as damp, mould, disrepair, and poor property conditions to relevant teams.
• Provide residents with realistic advice on repairs and maintenance.
• Report suspected tenancy fraud or breaches of tenancy conditions.
• Promote fire‑safety awareness, testing smoke alarms and carbon‑monoxide devices.
• Identify safeguarding concerns, abuse, neglect or welfare risks and arrange appropriate referrals.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of social housing, landlord responsibilities and safeguarding obligations.
• CIH Level 3 qualification (or equivalent housing management experience).
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, Fire Safety, GDPR and data‑protection requirements.
• Previous experience in a housing association, local authority, ALMO or similar environment, preferably as a Visiting Officer, Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Housing Officer or Neighbourhood Officer.
