Workshop Engineer - Structures

About the role

We are seeking a Workshop Engineer – Structures to join a leading aerospace and defence organisation in Bournemouth. The role involves assembling, maintaining and manufacturing aircraft structural components in a highly technical workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft components from kits using engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform solid and blind riveting, bolting and fitting operations.
• Manufacture metal detail parts through bending, fitting and finishing processes.
• Interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs on mechanical and structural aircraft parts following approved procedures.
• Complete all maintenance and manufacturing documentation accurately.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with standards.
• Verify tooling and test equipment calibration and maintain records.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and support tooling procurement when required.

Required profile

• Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
• Strong practical engineering skills in mechanical or structural assembly.
• Good written and verbal English communication.
• Basic mathematical ability and strong attention to detail.
• Desirable experience in aircraft workshop or base‑maintenance environments.
• Experience within aerospace, aviation or other regulated engineering sectors.
• Knowledge of structural repairs and component‑manufacturing processes.
