Year 1 Supply Teacher – Whitstable Primary Schools

About the role

Hays Education is partnering with several primary schools in Whitstable to recruit enthusiastic Year 1 teachers. The role involves guiding pupils as they move from Reception into Key Stage 1, helping them build confidence, independence and foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils during the transition from Reception to Year 1.
• Design and deliver engaging, creative and inclusive lessons.
• Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes academic, social and emotional growth.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain high standards of conduct.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing targeted support where needed.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
• Ability to deliver inspiring and creative lessons.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to pupil progress and development.
• Positive relationship‑building with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Enthusiastic, patient and nurturing approach.
