About the role
Hays Education is partnering with primary schools in Whitstable to recruit enthusiastic Year 2 teachers on a supply basis. The role involves delivering the Key Stage 1 curriculum to pupils aged 6‑7, helping them transition confidently to Key Stage 2.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging literacy, numeracy and communication lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Assess pupil progress, provide feedback and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and well‑managed classroom environment.
- Collaborate with senior staff, parents and colleagues to support pupil wellbeing.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development and any required observations.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
- Experience teaching Year 2 or other Key Stage 1 classes.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
- Commitment to pupil progress and inclusive education.
- Positive attitude, patience and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
Required skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Knowledge of the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.
