Youth Support Worker – Specialist SEMH School

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Youth Support Worker to join a specialist school in Witney that serves children aged 5‑13 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role is term‑time, on‑site and focuses on helping pupils regulate emotions, develop positive behaviours and make academic progress.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to students to promote emotional regulation and resilience.
- Implement restorative practice techniques to guide pupils in managing their behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers, senior leaders and external professionals to deliver personalised EHCP goals.
- Monitor and record progress against individual care plans.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive and structured learning environment.
Required profile
- Patient, kind and empathetic approach to children with SEMH and behavioural challenges.
- Positive mindset and genuine passion for helping young people.
- Willingness to adapt support to each child’s unique needs.
- Previous experience with children, especially those with SEMH or behavioural needs, is desirable but not essential.
Required skills
- No specific technical skills required; focus is on interpersonal and supportive abilities.
