Accounts Senior – Owner‑Managed Portfolio – £38‑42k

About the role

We are an established independent accountancy practice in St. Helens seeking an ACA/ACCA qualified (or part‑qualified) accountant with around 7 years UK practice experience. You will manage your own portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, limited companies, partnerships and not‑for‑profit organisations, working closely with clients and Directors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end and statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of owner‑managed businesses.
• Produce management accounts (approximately 20% of the work).
• Attend client meetings and provide practical accounting advice.
• Support clients with cloud accounting, including desktop‑to‑cloud transitions and Making Tax Digital.
• Undertake bookkeeping tasks where required.
• Liaise with the tax team for corporation and personal tax matters.
• Provide occasional audit support during busy periods (audit not a core requirement).

Required profile

• Around 7 years UK accountancy practice experience.
• ACA/ACCA qualification, part‑qualification or QBE status.
• Experience managing your own client portfolio.
• Strong statutory and year‑end accounts experience.
• Good knowledge of UK accounting standards.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.
• Experience with Xero and Sage (IRIS advantageous).
