About the role
The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist and Teacher Practitioner will deliver a high‑quality, patient‑focused clinical pharmacy service at the Aintree site and support the undergraduate MPharm programme at Liverpool John Moores University. This senior position combines direct patient care with teaching and mentorship responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Education and Training in delivering high‑level teaching to MPharm undergraduates.
- Coordinate undergraduate clinical teaching across the Trust and at Liverpool John Moores University.
- Maintain and develop advanced clinical pharmacy skills, including care‑group responsibilities.
- Provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to medical patients and staff.
- Support the Lead Divisional Pharmacist (Medicine) in clinical training, supervision and non‑medical prescribing services.
- Identify clinical and economic impacts of medicines use, develop and implement guidelines, and monitor drug expenditure.
- Supply specialist pharmaceutical information to medical, nursing, GP staff and patients.
- Act as an independent prescriber in line with Trust policies once registered.
- Participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
Required profile
- Current UK professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, motivate others and function effectively in a team.
- Methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Enthusiasm for pharmacy education and continuous professional development.
Required skills
- Advanced clinical pharmacy practice.
- Non‑medical prescribing (NMP) competence.
- Clinical guideline development and implementation.
- Drug expenditure monitoring and financial target achievement.
- Provision of specialist pharmaceutical information.
- Regulation and legislation of pharmaceutical services.
- Pharmacy audit and computer literacy.
