Architect – Retail & Lifestyle (Birmingham)

About the role

Gensler’s Birmingham office is looking for an experienced Architect with strong technical expertise in the Retail & Lifestyle sectors. The successful candidate will be proficient in Revit, motivated, proactive and eager to learn, and will work closely with architects and interior designers across the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop unique retail and lifestyle environments from concept through construction documentation.
• Participate in all design phases including programming, concept, schematic, design development, specification and tendering.
• Prepare plans, elevations, details and sections and produce detailed construction drawings.
• Support principals in client, contractor and design team communications, maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on test fits, technical detailing and construction documentation.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or master’s degree in Architecture or Architecture Technology.
• Demonstrable experience in design, detailing and construction documentation.
• Experience in data centre or critical facilities sectors is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and graphic presentation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit (mandatory).
• Experience with Rhino, Grasshopper and 3Ds Max (advantageous).
