Aspiring Child Counsellor / SEN Teaching Assistant (Day Rate £93‑£105)

About the role
Are you wanting to make a difference for children and young people with Special Needs? This specialist school in Guildford is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Aspiring Child Counsellor/Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join the team. The school supports children and young people with Special Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a valuable “foot in the door” opportunity to gain first‑hand experience and develop your knowledge.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher with the learning experience
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with learning, physical, sensory, or behavioural challenges
- Build trusted and effective relationships with pupils
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support as required
- Follow and implement safeguarding guidelines in the classroom
- Maintain good communication and interpersonal skills
- Listen compassionately and respond to pupils’ needs
- Attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD
Required profile
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship)
- Ability to commute to Guildford
- Availability to start in September with trial days and work term‑time, Monday‑Friday 08:30‑15:30
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or overseas police check where appropriate)
What we offer

- Full‑time term‑time contract on a PAYE basis, Monday‑Friday 08:30‑15:30
