Band 5 Staff Nurse – Surgical Ward 24

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the surgical nursing team on Ward 24, a 30‑bedded ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This full‑time, permanent position offers a dynamic, patient‑centred environment with flexible day and night shift patterns, including weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, deliver and supervise patient care within the ward.
• Implement and evaluate evidence‑based programmes of care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maintain high clinical standards.
• Work independently using initiative while supporting newly qualified staff.
• Adapt to a fast‑paced surgical setting and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Excellent communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Strong clinical assessment skills.
