About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join a secondary school in Middleton, Rochdale. The role involves providing one‑to‑one support to a student with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and manage challenging behaviours.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver consistent 1:1 mentoring and emotional support throughout the school day.
- Implement and monitor behaviour support plans under the guidance of the SENCO and Behaviour Lead.
- Use de‑escalation and restorative approaches to manage challenging situations.
- Build trusting relationships that promote self‑confidence and emotional regulation.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, pastoral staff and parents/carers to track progress.
Required profile
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Background supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
- Strong interpersonal and behaviour management abilities.
- Resilience, patience and a calm, nurturing approach.
- Experience in Alternative Provision or Pupil Referral Unit is desirable.
Required skills
- Team Teach or similar behaviour management training (advantageous).
What we offer
- Day rate of £100‑£110.
