BIM Technician

About the role

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a BIM Technician to support major water and wastewater schemes across the UK. You will be responsible for delivering BIM and digital outputs throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design to commissioning, ensuring high‑quality, secure, and sustainable model data.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and quality‑control CAD/BIM design data in line with company standards.
• Use 3D modelling for design collaboration, clash resolution, asset data capture, digital rehearsal and cost capture.
• Develop and maintain the common data environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360).
• Create a standardised BIM element library to enable model reuse and low‑carbon solutions.
• Manage cyber‑security aspects of CAD/BIM data and access.
• Validate and integrate supplier CAD/BIM models into project models.
• Support designers in balancing time, cost and quality pressures.
• Promote safety, wellbeing, environmental and sustainability considerations within BIM outputs.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced BIM technicians.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), BIM or a related field.
• Experience delivering BIM data on water or wastewater projects is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk CAD/BIM tools, including Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360.
• Strong 3D modelling and clash detection capabilities.
• Experience creating and managing a common data environment.
• Knowledge of BIM standards development and element library creation.
• Understanding of cyber‑security requirements for BIM data.
• Ability to validate and integrate external BIM models.
