Building Surveyor – Birmingham

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham team. The role focuses on assessing properties affected by general perils such as fire, flood or storm, with additional value placed on subsidence experience.

Key responsibilities

• Review claim information and conduct detailed site visits to confirm policy coverage and scope.
• Communicate with policyholders to gather further details and explain liability decisions.
• Create repair schedules, validate variation requests and ensure compliance with policy wording and insurer guidelines.
• Manage the full claim lifecycle from damage assessment through to final report submission.
• Ensure all activities meet company policies, health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Appoint and brief specialist contractors (asbestos, drying, restoration, building works) as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in loss adjusting or building surveying, preferably with exposure to subsidence projects.
• Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons) or equivalent qualification.
• Professional membership such as MCIOB or MRICS is desirable but not essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
