Buyer – Procurement Specialist (Hybrid)

About the role

Join Babcock's Bristol Technology Centre as a Buyer, supporting the Mission Systems business that delivers critical defence, aerospace and engineering programmes. You will act as the central point for procurement activities, ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, ethically and at best value.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of goods and services to meet programme delivery timelines and budgets.
• Prepare and issue requests for quotation (RFQs) and evaluate supplier responses.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including conducting supplier visits.
• Support order‑book management and provide accurate supply‑chain reporting.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and stakeholders to identify value‑creation opportunities.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in a supply‑chain or procurement role.
• Understanding of purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Awareness of operational procurement processes and commercial business practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIPS Level 4 or equivalent).
• Ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
