Buyer – Procurement & Supply Chain

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Buyer to join a fast‑growing international manufacturing business in Preston. The role will support production schedules and customer demand by planning, procuring and purchasing the materials needed for daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan material requirements in line with production forecasts and customer orders.
• Create, raise and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Monitor inventory levels and optimise stock holdings to balance availability and cost.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and delivery schedules.
• Track supplier performance, resolve delivery or quality issues, and manage supply agreements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar buying or procurement role.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• CIPS qualification (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential.
