Clerk of Works – Mechanical & Electrical (M&E)

About the role

We are seeking a field‑based Clerk of Works specialising in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) to join our Birmingham team. You will be responsible for inspecting workmanship, quality and safety across a diverse portfolio of construction projects throughout the Midlands.

Key responsibilities

• Report on M&E installation quality and workmanship to after‑care and survey teams.
• Attend initial and recurring project meetings with clients and the wider project team.
• Carry out regular site inspections across multiple Midlands projects.
• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Produce and distribute site inspection, progress and quality control reports, including photographic records.
• Identify defects, non‑compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with snagging, de‑snagging and project handover procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or Quality Inspector.
• Strong understanding of building construction and site quality standards.
• Experience with residential developments and M&E inspections.
• MICWCI status or commitment to obtain membership.
• Valid CSCS card and clean UK driving licence.
• Ability to manage several projects and competing deadlines.
