About the role
Barclays is looking for a Credit Risk Officer to join its Credit Risk Sanctioning team within the Private Bank. You will be responsible for ensuring that lending decisions are sound, compliant and aligned with the bank’s risk appetite.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, approve or decline credit applications in line with established policies, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse financial statements, credit reports and other documentation to evaluate borrower creditworthiness.
- Monitor the performance of approved loans, identify early warning signs and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide independent credit decisions and develop remediation plans for troubled lending.
- Contribute to strategic transformation programmes, drive policy improvements and support change initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience in credit sanctioning within Private Banking or a comparable lending environment.
- Background in high‑value mortgages and Lombard lending.
- Understanding of first‑line and second‑line risk functions and their expectations.
- Strong communication skills to support transactional work and strategic change.
- Ability to manage stakeholders, work independently and pay close attention to detail.
