Data Platform Solution Architect

About the role

The Data Platform Solution Architect will lead the design of trusted, governed and resilient data products that support reporting, analytics and operational use cases across M&G. The role translates business outcomes into scalable technical designs while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and architectural principles.

Key responsibilities

• Produce end‑to‑end solution designs covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic layers and consumption patterns.
• Define data product scope, SLAs, controls, non‑functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Embed data governance, security and privacy controls into designs from the outset.
• Provide design assurance through walkthroughs, advising delivery squads and ensuring consistent application of design decisions.
• Maintain reference architectures, reusable patterns, templates and design documentation.
• Define integration approaches for APIs, events and file‑based interfaces, incorporating quality checks and reconciliation.
• Support governance forums such as Data Design Forum and Technical Design Authority with architecture reviews and risk identification.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and platform leadership to align designs with strategy and roadmaps.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering data platform solutions at scale.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security and privacy frameworks.
• Ability to work closely with product owners, engineers, security and architecture stakeholders.
• Experience providing design assurance and coaching delivery teams.
