Design Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Design Manager to join a national Tier 1 contractor’s regional office in Southampton. You will lead design delivery across a portfolio of public‑sector frameworks, including education, health‑care, defence and bio‑research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design work from bid preparation through detailed 2nd‑stage design and on‑site delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure quality, risk management and compliance with the Building Safety Act.
• Oversee projects ranging from £10 million to £70 million across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Support the transition of designs to construction, monitoring progress and addressing issues on site.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or a Design Co‑ordinator ready to step up.
• Chartered status is advantageous, with training support available if not already achieved.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
