Director of Property – 6‑Month Interim (Hybrid)

About the role

This 6‑month interim position is based in Birmingham and offers hybrid working. Reporting to the Executive Director of Place, Prosperity and Sustainability, the Director of Property will lead a high‑profile property‑led regeneration programme for a large local authority, driving housing growth and transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of a property and housing development‑led regeneration programme aligned with corporate objectives.
• Drive the Major Projects workstream, ensuring timely delivery and maximising investment opportunities.
• Take strategic ownership of key regeneration schemes and support the Council's asset disposal and capital receipts programme.
• Transform and integrate regeneration, housing development and project management functions into a commercially focused service.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with developers, investors, funding bodies and strategic partners.
• Implement robust programme management, performance monitoring and risk management frameworks.
• Champion innovation, commercial thinking and continuous improvement across teams.
• Provide visible and inspirational leadership to multidisciplinary teams during transformation.

Required profile

• Senior regeneration leader with extensive experience delivering major regeneration, development and property portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of public‑private sector partnerships and commercial property delivery.
• Proven track record of driving organisational transformation and delivering complex development programmes.
