Field Service Engineer - Surgical

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Surgical Field Service Engineer to support and maintain its surgical equipment at customer sites in the East Bay area. The role involves on‑site installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced medical devices.

Key responsibilities

• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance, retrofits, upgrades, and system installations.
• Provide technical advice, commission equipment, and ensure proper functioning of demo units.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by addressing concerns, quality, and safety issues promptly.
• Manage daily schedules, communications with customers, dispatch, and cross‑functional teams.
• Handle administrative tasks, inventory management, and return of unused or failed parts.
• Promote service contracts and assist sales in selling service agreements within the territory.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant field service experience.
• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and travel approximately 30% overnight.

Required skills

• Experience with advanced medical devices, including laser‑based equipment.
• Working knowledge of ServiceMax or similar CRM tools.
