Finance Assistant / Purchase Ledger Clerk (London)

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Assistant / Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a medium‑size accountancy firm that works with high‑profile media, creative, film and TV clients. Based in central London, you will report to the Finance Partner and handle day‑to‑day financial transactions and client account services.

Key responsibilities

• Upload bank entries, perform bank and petty‑cash reconciliations.
• Process invoices, client card payments and supplier invoices.
• Maintain the purchase ledger and run supplier payment batches.
• Prepare payment files for bank upload and ensure proper authorisation.
• Conduct monthly client account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist the finance manager with management accounts and VAT returns.
• Handle employee expense claims and other ad‑hoc finance duties.

Required profile

• 1–2 years experience as a Finance Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk.
• Background in an accountancy practice or an internal finance role within industry.
• Experience with bookkeeping, invoicing and reconciliation processes.
• Motivation to work in a relaxed, forward‑thinking professional practice.

Required skills

• CCH accounting software (experience preferred).
