Finance Business Partner – 6‑Month Interim Role

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a leading UK infrastructure and rail services group on a six‑month interim contract. The role begins with on‑site engagement in London and Suffolk before moving to a hybrid working pattern, providing senior finance leadership across a regional division.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the senior finance lead for a regional division, partnering with operational, project and commercial teams.
• Spend the first two weeks on site in London and Suffolk to understand contracts, meet project teams and grasp cost and revenue drivers.
• Own the month‑end cycle, including forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and narrative reporting.
• Challenge and support Project and Commercial Managers on contract performance, WIP, margin, cost‑to‑complete and risk.
• Produce clear, decision‑useful reporting for divisional leadership and contribute to group reporting cycles.
• Drive improved financial discipline, cash focus and commercial awareness across the business.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong post‑qualification business partnering experience.
• Proven track record in a project‑ or contract‑based environment such as rail, construction, infrastructure or engineering.
• Confident engaging with operational teams on site and translating site reality into financial insight.
• Strong forecasting, modelling and month‑end credentials with the ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
• Ability to work independently in an interim capacity and add value from day one.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites during the initial period.
