Finance & HR Manager – Manchester (Full‑Time)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established manufacturing business specialising in industrial packaging, is seeking a Finance & HR Manager for their Manchester site. The role combines hands‑on finance management with HR administration, supporting senior leadership and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day finance operations using Sage, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, VAT returns and payment runs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and P&L analysis for senior management.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, expenditure and credit control; liaise with external accountants and support annual audits.
• Maintain supplier relationships, contracts and business renewals, and identify improvements to financial systems.
• Oversee HR administration such as payroll summaries, timesheets, employee records and reporting.
• Lead an Administrative Assistant and ensure consistent internal procedures.

Required profile

• Recognised financial qualification or at least 5 years’ experience in a similar finance/HR role.
• Previous management or supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software and experience producing management accounts.
• Excellent understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, reconciliations and credit control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with high attention to detail.
• Confident communicator able to build relationships across the business.

What we offer

• Permanent, full‑time position (Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑5 pm).
• Salary £38,000‑£43,000 per annum (DOE) plus KPI‑based bonus after probation.
