General Operator – Industrial Waste Processing

About the role

Enva is seeking a General Operator to join its Immingham site. You will work in a high‑intensity environment processing lead‑acid batteries and other waste materials, ensuring safe and efficient operation of specialised machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain health and safety standards for yourself and colleagues at all times.
• Comply with environmental and waste‑management licensing regulations.
• Operate and monitor machinery used to break down and process lead‑acid batteries.
• Perform manual lifting and handling of heavy battery units following safety protocols.
• Follow start‑up and shut‑down procedures, keeping the work area tidy.
• Ensure correct specialised PPE is worn by all personnel.
• Operate a forklift in accordance with training and procedures.
• Carry out general site maintenance and complete required administrative paperwork.
• Undertake any other duties as required.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a team under pressure.
• Willingness to learn new systems and machinery.
• Physical capability for repetitive heavy lifting in a high‑temperature, high‑humidity environment.
• Positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude with good conflict‑resolution skills.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (trained and certified).
• Machinery operation for lead‑acid battery processing.
• Manual handling of heavy loads.
