About the role
We are seeking a Governance Officer to join a public sector organisation in Edinburgh on a six‑month contract. Working hybrid, you will support the Governance team to ensure best practice and compliance across corporate governance matters.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice and guidance on corporate governance to colleagues.
- Support the Senior Governance Officer on improvement projects.
- Represent the Governance team internally and externally.
- Maintain governance systems and databases, including SharePoint and AdminControl.
- Assist in preparing Board and Committee papers, attend meetings and draft minutes.
- Handle information requests such as FOI, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Subject Access requests.
- Collate management information for the Board and produce performance reports.
- Support the Complaints Handling Procedure as required.
Required profile
- 5+ years’ experience in commercial or public sector environments.
- Strong knowledge of corporate statutory responsibilities and public‑sector legislation.
- Experience in a corporate governance support role.
- Project and quality management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, work independently and adapt to change.

What we offer
- Hybrid working (home and office).
- Six‑month contract with a daily rate of £200‑£250 (Inside IR35).
