Housekeeper – Domestic Assistant for Nursing Home

About the role

Randolph Hill is seeking a reliable Housekeeper to join the team at Muirfield Nursing Home in Gullane. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and staff, working either 08:00‑14:30 or 08:00‑16:00 on a pre‑planned rota.

Key responsibilities

• Follow housekeeping procedures set by management and the nurse in charge.
• Clean and deodorise furniture, carpets, and communal areas to high standards.
• Use cleaning chemicals safely and economically, following manufacturer guidelines.
• Report any damage, stock discrepancies, or safety incidents promptly.
• Dispose of waste according to company instructions and maintain proper stock control.
• Wear the company uniform and any required protective equipment while on duty.
• Participate in training, staff meetings, and fire evacuation drills.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in a fast‑moving domestic or cleaning role, in any setting.
• Commitment to respecting residents’ privacy, dignity, and choice.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and follow instructions.
• Willingness to adhere to health, safety, and company policies.

Required skills

• Safe operation of cleaning tools and equipment.
• Proper handling and mixing of cleaning chemicals.
• Basic understanding of waste disposal and stock control procedures.
