Lead Accountant (Europe)

About the role

Join a leading US law firm’s European finance team as a Lead Accountant. You will be responsible for delivering accurate, well‑documented financial reporting across multiple European offices while collaborating with colleagues in Asia and the wider Finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Produce management reports, variance analysis and ad‑hoc financial reporting for the Director of Finance, Europe & Asia.
• Calculate VAT and compile supporting documentation for timely European filings.
• Support statutory accounts, tax returns, audits and liaise with external advisers and auditors.
• Monitor tax, VAT and statutory compliance deadlines across European and international offices.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for selected international offices and recommend improvements to reporting controls.
• Collaborate on accounting and tax matters with Finance colleagues in Europe and Asia, including new office openings.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with strong financial accounting, controls and reporting experience, preferably within a law‑firm environment.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex reconciliations, statutory accounts and tax deliverables.
• Sound judgement for making informed decisions on complex accounting and tax matters.
