Litigation Lawyer

About the role

Hicks LeMoine Law, a well‑established general practice firm serving Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join its small, collaborative team. The role can be based in either Amherst, NS or Sackville, NB and will involve handling a diverse range of civil and commercial litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied litigation caseload, including commercial, personal injury, estate and employment matters.
• Handle all stages of the litigation process: drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, attending hearings, mediations and trials.
• Advise clients on legal strategy and case development in clear, client‑friendly language.
• Draft and review legal documents and maintain organized files.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver a team‑based service model.
• Meet court deadlines and regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, or eligibility for transfer.
• Minimum of 4 years’ litigation experience.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills with the ability to manage a demanding caseload independently.
• Excellent client communication and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
