Maintenance Engineer – Commercial Building Services

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Central London, supporting multiple campus sites. The role involves scheduled and reactive maintenance of commercial mechanical plant and building services, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance on commercial mechanical plant and building services infrastructure.
• Service and repair heating plant, boilers, pumps, pipework systems, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs) and ventilation plant.
• Maintain calorifiers, pressurisation units, valves and domestic water services.
• Diagnose system faults, conduct root‑cause analysis and execute safe repairs.
• Oversee site water hygiene tasks including temperature monitoring, flushing and L8 compliance.
• Work alongside sub‑contractors, manage permits to work and ensure strict site safety compliance.

Required profile

• NVQ in a mechanical discipline such as plumbing, mechanical or air conditioning.
• Proven experience in commercial mechanical building services maintenance, preferably within higher education, NHS or corporate estates.
• Strong understanding of water hygiene (L8), pressure systems and related safety regulations.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK.

• Salary of £39,000 per annum.
