Manufacturing Engineer – Defence Manufacturing

About the role

Join a leading defence manufacturer as a Manufacturing Engineer based in Glasgow. You will be part of the OME (Optronics and Missile Electronics) team, driving industrialisation projects and supporting production throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cost estimation for bids, covering direct and indirect costs and scheduling.
• Lead New Product Introduction activities, including MRL, PRR, FAI, DfX, PFMEA, tooling and test equipment.
• Execute APQP and PPAP processes, reviewing engineering files and approving manufacturing documentation.
• Define assembly and testing processes, manage non‑conformances and engineering changes.
• Monitor product costs, collaborate with Workcell/APRU Managers to meet KPIs, and drive continuous improvement using Lean methodologies.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering within a comparable environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with Oracle, Palma and Mestec software.
• Knowledge of Lean methodologies.
