Quality Inspector – CMM & Precision Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join a leading Scottish precision‑engineering manufacturer. You will be responsible for ensuring that CNC‑machined components meet exacting customer specifications throughout the production process.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections of precision CNC‑machined parts.
• Program, operate and maintain Mitutoyo CMM equipment alongside conventional gauges and profilometers.
• Produce First Article Inspection Reports and support customer inspections.
• Assist with internal and external ISO 9001 audits.
• Document non‑conformances and contribute to corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a precision‑engineering environment.
• Hands‑on experience operating CMM machinery.

Required skills

• Programming and operating Mitutoyo CMM equipment.
• Use of gauges, micrometers, bore gauges and surface‑roughness instruments.
• Interpretation of GD&T, engineering drawings and dimensional inspection data.
• Preparation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and familiarity with AS9102.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 audit processes, NCR, CAPA, root‑cause analysis (8D, 5‑Why).
• Calibration and metrology best practices.
