Night Shift Manager – Civil Engineering (Central & West London)

About the role

The Night Shift Manager will lead the technical and engineering delivery of underground civil works across Central and West London, ensuring safety, quality and programme targets are met during night operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor works to ensure compliance with RAMS and engineering specifications.
• Respond to excavation anomalies, surface settlements and emergency situations.
• Provide direction to shift and control‑room engineers and manage subcontractor performance.
• Maintain accurate shift records, material testing and equipment availability.
• Own construction risks, participate in risk reviews and champion H&S standards.
• Support professional development of team members and gather feedback on production and safety concerns.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• SMSTS certification (mandatory).
• IOSH Managing Safely in Construction (preferred).
• Valid CSCS card.

Required skills

• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• IOSH Managing Safely in Construction.
• CSCS Card.
• Understanding of RAMS and construction risk management.
