Operational Risk Manager – Part‑Time (London/Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join a highly regulated financial services organisation on a flexible part‑time basis. Working from London with a hybrid model, you will help shape and maintain a robust Operational Risk Framework while collaborating closely with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Support the ongoing development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business needs.
• Coordinate and facilitate operational risk assessments across the business, reviewing departmental assessments for consistency, effective control evaluation and appropriate risk scoring.
• Maintain the Operational Risk Register, monitor incidents, near‑misses and emerging risks, identify trends and root causes, and track mitigation actions to completion.
• Assist with the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics and the annual Business‑Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA).
• Produce high‑quality risk reporting, dashboards and management information for senior leadership, including the Executive Risk and Compliance Committee (ERCC).
• Support the firm’s Operational Resilience programme, including scenario testing, business change initiatives, outsourcing risk reviews and strategic projects.
• Contribute to regulatory activities such as ICARA, audit responses and the review of operational risk policies and procedures.
• Promote a strong risk culture by delivering guidance, encouraging first‑line ownership of risks and supporting effective risk management across the business.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an Operational Risk role within an FCA‑regulated financial services organisation.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, governance and best‑practice risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate, review and challenge risk assessments and control evaluations.
• Excellent analytical skills with a track record of identifying trends, root causes and effective mitigation actions.
• Experience preparing risk reports and presenting findings to senior leadership and committees.
